mom's oven fries

These are so easy, and pretty quick, too.

Preheat your oven to 450. Cut up potatoes like so (ish). 3-5 minutes into the preheating process, put a 9x13 glass pan in the oven to get it
nice and hot.

After the pan has been in the oven for a few minutes, put about 3 tablespoons of butter in the pan and let it melt. It should take about 2-3 minutes, and by this time your oven should be close to 450.

Once the butter has melted, remove the pan from the oven and toss the fries in it with a good bit of salt and pepper. Put pan back in the oven if it's done preheating. Bake for 15 minutes, then toss. Bake for 15-20 mintues more (toss a bit every 5-7 minutes or so)...

...and you get this. As Ina says, "Now who wouldn't want THAT for dinner?"

"daddy, we watched THREE movies!"

...that is what Ella told her dad on the phone from my house. Not so. Three short Christmas classics from a DVD set from Uncle Jeff & Aunt LuRae (a life saver when you're babysitting three cute but very active kids - thanks Pondra!). It didn't help that Brian has a big soft spot for Merry Blythe who liked to say to him, "watch more MOvie?"

This was the best picture I got of the kids while they were staying with us waiting for Giles to be born. Terrible camera work, but the scene was just too good to leave it out.

another thought.

sorry I always post things backwards. I am a lazy blogger, if you couldn't tell from the fact that I type an average of three words per post.

we've got a new favorite.

we quite like this recipe for sour cream bran muffins from Smitten Kitchen. I use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Oh so yum.

One gift, two givers...

...3,000 miles apart. Brian put together this clever gift of money that he and Gabe contributed towards Dave's new golf clubs (the club pictured here was a very pricey one from Goodwill).

wow.

I have not blogged in a long time.

I decided that thought deserved its own little post (not even a picture...lame).

for baby giles

not as outrageously cute as this pink one, but it'll do.

this cute stamp and yarn for giles' hat were two of the many lovely Christmas gifts from my mother in law.

I'm experimenting with some different backgrounds for our etsy pics. I like the perspective you get when you see someone holding the tag. What think you? I think I need some lotion.

our tags go to australia

This week we sold a nice stack of tags to a girl in Australia. Our first international order! "This - is - the big time!" (5 points to whoever knows what movie that's from. Kristen, I know you know...).

need some of your own? we've got lots!
